This is a very exciting opportunity to work with UNICEF and contribute in the realization of children’s rights in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
Under the overall direction of the Regional Director, working in close collaboration with a regional multi-sectoral team and the direct supervision of the Deputy Regional Director, the Regional Education Adviser will lead the regional office’s Education and Early Childhood Development (ECD) team in: providing strategic advice for the development of evidence-based policies and programs, as well as, the conceptual frameworks to contribute to the achievement of regional, sub regional and country priorities; supporting with technical assistance and guidance at the regional and country level in the achievement of results, in monitoring the implementation of strategies, as well as, in generating evidence, and sharing experiences, learning and best practices. The Regional Education Adviser would also lead the strengthening of partnerships with key organizations, positioning the Education and ECD priorities of the region in the different priority forums and regional mechanisms.
This positions requires an advanced university degree (Master´s, PhD or equivalent) in Education, Social Sciences, or a field(s) relevant to international development assistance. A minimum of twelve years of relevant professional experience in all aspects of programme management, and/or advisory support, in the technical area or programme sector resulting in recognized expertise in the technical area. Demonstrated capacity in identifying and monitoring equity disparities in education and ECD, as well as developing and implementing equity (including gender and disabilities) mainstreaming in programme policy and management are also required. Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset. Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory and knowledge of French, Dutch or Portuguese will be considered an asset.
